Job Description
Sage Therapeutics is searching for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Medical Director Consultant. The successful candidate will lead development of the strategic brand plans to establish the medical footprint for Sage in neuropsychiatry and movement disorders. The Medical Director Consultant will be responsible for the execution of tactical medical plans and developing foundational materials, training, and programs to understand the MOA and clinical potential of assigned pipeline. The Consultant will partner with cross-functional teams, including Clinical Development, Medical Communications, Regulatory, Operations, Program Management, and Marketing to provide medical leadership in delivering therapeutic initiatives.
Roles And Responsibilities
Lead the strategy and execution of tactical plans in either neuropsychiatry and cognition or essential tremor.
Support Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review of educational and promotional materials. Provide medical expertise in the review and approval of external resources, communications, and publications to ensure medical accuracy, objectivity, and fair-balance.
Manage thought leader networks. Lead KOL engagement efforts in movement disorders and cognition through the development of Strategic Working Groups with top thought leaders in cognition and movement disorders to inform medical strategy and tactics. Lead advisory boards with healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and neurologists) to collect needed clinical insights to inform medical strategy and tactics.
Work with the Clinical Development and HEOR teams to support the inclusion of appropriate trial endpoints and outcome measures in phase 2b/3 to inform physicians and payers.
Represent Medical Affairs on cross-functional internal brand teams.
Represent Sage at various scientific and clinical congress meetings.
Ensure alignment of the brand Medical Affairs activities with the launch readiness and program management plans and objectives.
Provide medical expertise in support of developing content (slides, websites, and standard response letters) for medical communications and education to advance disease state and clinical understanding.
Lead evidence generation efforts, including post-hoc analyses of phase 3 data sets, phase 3b/4 planning and execution, and patient survey planning and execution to inform satisfaction, preference, unmet needs, and ethnography.
Experience, Education And Specialized Knowledge And Skills

Basic Qualifications
MD, DO, or PhD/PharmD with prior experience in Neurology, Cognitive Impairment, and Movement Disorders.
Minimum of 5 years of combined pharmaceutical industry and/or academic/clinical medicine expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in helping to develop medical strategic and tactical plans in support of drug launch is highly preferred.
Must possess excellent communication skills, relationship-building capabilities, and a proven ability to influence decision-making without authority.
Must be willing and able to travel and regularly meet with HCPs/KOLs in the Northeast region initially, then more broadly across the US, Canada, and Europe as necessary.
Is able to perceive non-obvious opportunities by connecting the dots between existing knowledge, new data, and HCP unmet needs in real time.
Must be highly perceptive, socially intelligent, and intuitive.
Must have leadership skills, including a passion for working within multiple teams and a proven ability to achieve results in a matrix organization.
Is seen as a scientifically credible leader and collaborative partner to internal and external stakeholders.
Consistently and systematically collaborates with internal stakeholders to plan an approach to bring meaningful value to healthcare providers.
Ability to manage many complex projects in parallel, structuring the actions of many people toward shared outcomes.
