Oakstone CMEinfo Insider Subscription
Oakstone has a long track record of being one of the highest quality CME providers out there.
If you’ve been here before, you know we’ve discussed their CME subscription offers, their specialty product Practical Reviews, and other online CME offers of theirs.
Today, we’re taking a closer look at one of the most comprehensive CME subscriptions available anywhere on the internet; CMEinfo Insider, and to a lesser extent, CMEinfo.
One of the main benefits to CMEinfo Insider is the ability to earn unlimited CME credits for up to three years, with fresh new content added monthly.
However, there are several more reasons to consider this option for your CME needs this year.

Disclaimer: We’ve been working with Oakstone for a while, and were granted complimentary access to CMEinfo Insider so that we could do a more detailed analysis of the products since the platform's updates in 2020. If you've been here before, you already know we only review CME opportunities we really like.
CMEinfo Insider
Looking at Oakstone’s flagship suite of CME offers, CMEinfo, Practical Reviews, and CMEinfo Insider, you can see a clear expansion of content and benefits.
We’ve covered Practical Reviews before. In a nutshell, it gives you access to fresh monthly clinical medical journal summaries with practical audio commentary from practicing physicians in your specialty.
CMEinfo is a collection of continuing medical education activities covering a single topic or specialty.
With CMEinfo Insider, you get the same monthly briefs from Practical Reviews access to a massive library of content spanning 15 specialties. There are thousands of evidence-based video lectures, audio CME, and text summaries you can access any time.
Perfect for double or triple boarded physicians, PAs working in more than one specialty, or clinicians thinking about switching specialties.
CMEinfo Insider Top Features
1. New Content Every Month
This is one of my favorite parts about CMEinfo Insider. Because there are options to purchase a 3-year subscription, it’s nice to know you are getting more than a static library of information.
These updates are added automatically and at no additional charge throughout your membership.
Take a look at this screenshot to see what I mean. The latest content was added just two weeks prior!
2. Earn Unlimited CME Credits
Because Oakstone’s medical content library is so expansive as well as ever-growing, there is theoretically no limit to the amount of CME credits available to earn.
Your subscription comes with an easy-to-use built-in CME tracker that also lets you create, download, and print certificates for easy reporting.
For those of you poor souls who still need Maintenance of Certification (MOC) or Self-Assessment CME (SA-CME) credits, CMEinfo Insider makes this as painless as possible, too.
Many of the modules satisfy these requirements, so you can knock out all your CME obligations in one convenient location.
3. Customizable Audio & Video Playlists
CMEinfo Insider has many video format lectures available for those visual learners.
Sometimes it’s nice to see the slides a good presenter is using so you can pause and write down some key pearls.
Watch videos one at a time or make an entire custom playlist so you stay even more organized.
One of the great things about CMEinfo Insider is the variety of content, both in subject matter and in length.
I don’t know about you, but I’m lucky to make it through a 45-minute talk without having to get up or forget half of what I heard.
There is a healthy mix of long-form CME, which to me is anything over 30 minutes, and short, sub-ten minute audio summaries.
Compare this to another popular CME option, Audio Digest, which has more traditional length lectures.
The short episodes are perfect for knocking out a few in a row to build up some momentum or just listening to a one-off for a quarter or half a credit, while staying engaged the entire time.
This is a key differentiator from other CME products out there if you ask me.
4. Pass Your Boards Guarantee
This is Oakstone’s ‘money-back’ guarantee of sorts, if you are using CMEinfo Insider to prepare for a board exam.
It’s just what it sounds like; if you don’t pass your boards, you get a credit equal to your purchase price for another CME product of your choice.
You also need to have answered all the board review questions, because it only works if you use it.
5. BONUS CME Content!
We already know that CMEinfo Insider includes access to 15 specialties worth of CME. However, there was a nice bonus surprise waiting when I went digging a bit further.
This includes a COVID-19 section, consisting of early trial results, general treatment principles, and the latest literature.
I know it seems like everyone and their mother has a COVID-19 section on their website these days, but Oakstone’s is remarkable.
It says ‘updated monthly,’ but some of the publications were just days old when I checked at month’s end.
With information about this virus changing near-daily, this seems like an important feature.
There are also concise guideline summaries, both in text and audio format, long-ish form discussions on the latest drugs with primary care clinicians, specialists, and pharmacists, plus a few exclusive modules (burnout, osteoporosis, and food allergies) just for Insider subscribers.
6. CME with Free Gift Card
I won't spend too much time on this part, because it'll explain itself below. Bottom line is that you can get a free $3,200 Amazon gift card with this CME purchase.
It's definitely one of the more competitive CME plus gift card offers out there, as we've ranked here.
Great CME, unlimited fresh content, a three-year subscription, AND a free gift card? For these reasons and more, there really is no going wrong with CMEinfo Insider, in my opinion.
CMEinfo Insider Pricing
Ok, let’s get down to business.
How much is this going to cost you? Well, if you have a CME allowance, then it doesn’t cost you anything. I've heard that's a smart business move; spending other people's money.
If you don’t have a CME allowance, it’s still a good deal, as it is more cost-effective than most in-person CME conferences.
CME Subscription Options by Length
$5,449 – 3 Years (now 50% off)
- (effective price of $749.67/year)

Is CMEinfo Insider Worth It?
For all that you get with CMEinfo Insider, my answer is a resounding yes, no matter what specialty in which you work.
The gift card offer sweetens the deal substantially, and is a great way to spend your leftover CME money before it’s gone.
Upgrade your device, buy a medical app that will make all your medical friends jealous, or purchase reference books to enhance your education without spending any more money (of yours).

CMEinfo v CMEinfo Insider
Before we end, let’s clear up any possible confusion. Oakstone makes a product called CMEinfo, which is separate from what we've been discussing, CMEinfo Insider.
CMEinfo curates a wide variety of evidence-based content in the form of board reviews, recorded medical conferences, clinical updates, and more.
The content is available online or on a physical audio CD.
I was going to make a joke about the antiquity of CDs until I remembered I carried a pager until 2018. I’ve also learned Oakstone is phasing out CDs in favor of mp3 files.
Anyway, CMEinfo covers more than 35 specialties and subspecialties, and more are added on a regular basis. It would be a challenge not to find one that fits your needs.
However, CMEinfo comes as individual programs, rather than a comprehensive CME library like CMEinfo Insider.
That’s great if you only need oncology board review, but not as great if you also want breast imaging, emergency medicine, and pathology CME.
That’s where CMEinfo Insider comes in.
